Dublin Fun Fact Friday: BYOBag

Heading to a grocery store? Make sure you bring a bag! Irish grocery stores do not provide bags for you when checking out. They do sell bags- for just under a Euro a bag most places around us. The bags are usually quite sturdy, but not very large. It isn’t the worst when you need it but is definitely not worth making a habit of. So make sure you bring along your reusable bags and get ready to do your own bagging. Grab a Euro coin as well if you plan to use a shopping cart- the Euro coin unlocks the cart and you get it back when returned.

A nuisance maybe, especially if, like me, one is a regular bag forgetter. Still, I am glad that we`ve made a stand against plastic bags in our legislation.
